Minecraft is one of those timeless games that always seems to stay in the spotlight, especially thanks to the continued support and updates from the developers. While some updates make strange changes, like removing the mention of Notch from the game, others change how things look in the game. But if players want to really change the appearance of the classic game, they turn to texture packs. While a fair number of texture packs are available as DLC on console, PC players have almost endless options at their disposal. However, one texture pack is gaining a lot of attention due to how beautiful it makes the classic blocky game.

LB Photo Realism is the most downloaded texture pack on Planet Minecraft, not just out of realistic packs, but all texture packs in general. The aim for this pack is to make the game look as realistic as possible, even giving it a sort of gritty look as you can see on the image above.

The breathtaking texture pack in question is Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders, or SEUS as it's commonly called. The developer, Sonic Ether, has completely revamped how Minecraft looks. While mods have the ability to change or add things to the game, like the disturbing Momo Suicide Game mod, this texture pack simply adds new rendering systems and textures to make the game unbelievably beautiful. Unfortunately, to run Minecraft on PC with this texture pack installed, it would require some powerful hardware. One fan on Twitter reported a framerate ranging from 25-40 FPS on the highest settings using an i9-9900k and a GTX 1070 Ti.

Beefy hardware aside, fans can download the latest build of SEUS at Sonic Ether's Patreon page, where he posts regular updates on how the texture pack is coming along. To say that this texture pack is a cut above the rest is perhaps a bit of an understatement. HD texture packs have been around for Minecraft since its inception, but the path tracing and lighting techniques used in this one are unparalleled.

Minecraft mods and texture packs have become a staple to the Minecraft experience, especially on PC. From Pokemon recreated in Minecraft to sending Steve to Space, modders can do a lot to make Minecraft an entirely different game. Texture packs go a long way to change the experience for some, and Sonic Ether's texture pack makes Minecraft look like it was rendered in the Unreal Engine. Hopefully SEUS will keep thriving so more players can make their copy of Minecraft look this good.

The best Minecraft texture packs can make make your experience of the game unique. Combine them with things like the best Minecraft skins and you can customise your world and make it your own. As well as the paid packs within Minecraft itself, there are plenty of custom Minecraft texture packs created by talented artists and modders in the user-generated content scene.
This list is going to show you how to install these texture packs to change the look of your game, and run through some of the best texture packs on the market that offer the most rewarding visual overhauls in Minecraft.
How to install Minecraft texture packs
If you haven't played Minecraft in a while, the rules appear to have changed with the Bedrock Editions of the game, where there is a built-in store with free and paid texture packs for you to use, instead of an open source texture pack folder. Some of the texture packs listed here are on the storefront, and if you like them you should consider supporting the creators by purchasing them.
If you're still using Minecraft Java, all you have to do is hit 'Mods and Texture Packs' and then 'Open texture pack folder' and drop the .ZIP file you downloaded in there. Once you boot up, it should be an option in the texture pack menu.
For Minecraft Windows 10 edition, it's not as simple to install a texture pack outside of the storefront, and you have to make sure your texture pack is compatible with this edition of the game before you install.
Once you've got a compatible zip, hit the Windows button and type in %appdata%, then click on Local, then Packages/Microsoft.MinecraftUWP/ LocalState/games/com.mojang then finally 'resource_packs' is the folder you're looking for. Stick the compatible zip in there, then boot up Minecraft Windows 10, click on Global Resources in the settings and it should be at the top.
